Police recovered the burnt body of a woman from Shahimasjid Courtpara area of Narayanganj on Wednesday morning.
The deceased was identified as Anika Begum, 25, originally from Chor Chartola village in Brahmanbaria's Ashuganj.
Anika and her husband Ashikullah, an auto-rickshaw driver, engaged in an argument over a family dispute on Tuesday night. At one point during the argument, Ashikullah strangled her with a scarf around her neck, police say.
To remove the trace of the dead body, Ashikullah took the body in a cloister near his house and lit it on fire.

Few locals noticed the incident and informed the police about it. Later, police recovered the charred body and sent it to hospital for an autopsy.
The deceased's husband has been on the run since the incident.
Narayanganj pport police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Dipak Saha said that they were conducting raids to find out the husband.
Ashikullah’s brother was detained for primary interrogation, he said.
