Two women raped in separate incidents in Gazipur

Two women were raped in two separate incidents in Gazipur’s Tongi.

Both rape survivors have filed separate cases with Tongi East Thana on Wednesday and Thursday.

Gazipur Metropolitan Police (GMP) Additional Deputy Commissioner (South) Hasibul Alam confirmed the matter.

Among them, a garment worker, 26, was abducted and raped on March 6, when she was on her way home from work.

She filed a case against the accused on Wednesday.

She was raped by one Rahat Ali, in a car near Tongi’s Banamala Rail Gate, according to the case statement.

Rahat was arrested the same night after several raids, said the officer.

Another woman, a housewife, was gang-raped by her brother-in-law and his accomplices on Januray 31.

According to the case statement, she came to Tongi on the advice of her brother-in-law, Mamun, as he offered her a job in Gazipur.

Later, Mamun and some of his friends Hasan, 23, Haque Mridha, 30 and Kabir, 31 sexually assaulted her several times.

The rape survivor managed to escape and returned to her home in Rajshahi. The woman sought medical treatment there, and returned to Tongi to file a complaint on Thursday.
