25-year-old woman was suffocated to death allegedly by her husband over a family feud at Bashbaria union of Sitakunda Upazila in Chittagong district on Friday night.
The deceased was identified as Amena Begum, wife of Md Russel of Jamalpur district.
Hearing the sound of crying of the couple’s two-year-old child, neighbours went and found their house locked from the outside.
They broke the lock of the house and found the body lying in the room and their child beside the body.
On Saturday morning, police recovered the body, after being informed, and sent it to Chittagong Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
Ashraful Karim, assistant superintendent of police (Sitakunda Circle), said Russel might have killed his wife and fled.
Legal action will be taken in this regard, he added.
