Two cases started over Shitalakshya launch capsize

The Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) has started two cases over Sunday’s capsize of a launch with nearly 50 passengers on board.

BIWTA Narayanganj terminal Deputy Director Babu Lal Boiddya filed one case with Bandar Police Station in Narayanganj on Monday, confirmed OC Dipak Shaha.

Meanwhile, another case has been filed with the Narayanganj River Police station, OC Moniruzzaman told Dhaka Tribune.

Eight people on board the “Rupshi-9”, the freight vessel that struck the launch, have been accused in the cases.

They have been sent to court with a plea for a seven-day remand.
