The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has rescued a woman and her child, reportedly held captive for 24 days and raped.
On Saturday, RAB rescued the woman and her four-year-old child from the shipyard area under and arrested Ahidur Islam Sohel, 32, said Khulna-based RAB-6 Director Lt Col Moshtaq Ahmed.
According to the documents of a case started over the matter, the victim, a resident of Dhaka, went to Khulna with her child to visit her sister on February 27.
However, Ahidur and some of his accomplices abducted her on the way.
He held the child captive and threatened to kill him and raped the woman, said RAB.
The woman’s husband filed a complaint with RAB in Khulna after which a team led raids to rescue them.
The abductees as well as Ahidur have been turned over to the Khulna metropolitan police.
