Bangladeshi allegedly shot dead by BSF along Kushtia border

A Bangladesh national was allegedly shot dead by the members of India’s Border Security Force (BSF) along the border in Kushtia’s Daulatpur upazila on Saturday.

The deceased has been identified as 35-year-old Liton Biswas, a resident of Bilgathua Mathpara village.

Locals said a group of people, including Liton, was returning to the village from India through the border at night.

At one point, BSF troops of Meghna camp of Hoglabaria in Nadia district opened fire on them, leaving Liton dead.

Others managed to enter the country safely.

However, OC Zabid Hasan of Kushtia’s Doulatpur police station, said the body was kept at Hoglabaria police station across the border and the reason behind the killing could not be ascertained yet.
