Three held over Bogra Juba League leader killing

Police have arrested three teenagers over the murder of a Juba League activist in Bogra. 

Miraj Ali, 22, was stabbed to death in the Edward Municipal Park area on Tuesday evening. The attackers also left Miraj’s friend Nazmul, 16, injured. 

Following the murder, police carried out a raid and arrested the trio. They also seized a knife and a blood-stained jacket during the raid. 

The arrestees are Mithun, 28, Tarek Rahman, 18, and an unnamed tenth grader.

Police said that local Juba League leader Miraj, had some altercation with the tenth grader over his love affair with a girl. Later he along with his friend Nazmul went to the Edward Municipal Park area to meet the schoolboy. They engaged in another altercation on the spot and at one point Mithun, Tarek and the schoolboy attacked and stabbed Miraj and Nazmul. 

The duo were taken to a hospital where the duty doctor declared Miraj dead on arrival. Nazmul is currently undergoing treatment at the hospital. 

Sadar police station officer-in-charge Selim Reza said that Miraj’s brother filed a case over the murder on Tuesday night. Police said that Miraj was also active on the social networking app Tiktok
