A man in Thakurgaon was arrested for allegedly stabbing his two and half years old daughter to death on Thursday night.
The arrestee was identified as Zakir Hossain, 32, hailing from Sarkarpara village under West Begunbari area of Sadar upazila.
According to the police, Zakir had been suffering from depression for a long time. He used to beat up his wife Belly and daughter Jannatun Ferdous.
On Thursday night, he stabbed his daughter to death. When police reached the spot, Zakir attacked the Officer-in-Charge (Investigation) of Sadar Police Station AKM Atiqur Rahman and injured him.
Police managed to arrest him after 3 hours of reaching the scene.
Police said the body was handed over to the mother of the deceased after an autopsy.
A murder case has been filed with the Sadar police station in this regard, police added.
