Five deaths logged in Mymensingh hospital’s Covid unit in 24 hours

Five people died while being treated at the Covid-19 unit of Mymensingh Medical College Hospital (MMCH) in the 24 hours to Saturday  morning.

One of them had tested positive for Covid-19 while the rest were showing symptoms consistent with the disease, the unit’s spokesperson Mohiuddin Khan told the media.

A total of 86 patients are currently undergoing treatment in the Covid-19 unit with the admission of seven new patients in 24 hours, he said. “Six of them are admitted to the ICU.”

A total 337 samples were tested within this period, of which 114 have tested positive. The infection rate stands at 33.82%, according to Civil Surgeon Dr Nazrul Islam.

Mymensingh has so far recorded 24,347 Covid-19 cases since the start of the pandemic.

Of them, 22,026 have recovered so far.
