The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested a man for raping a teenager in Gazipur on Friday.
The alleged rapist Moktar Hossain, 50, was arrested from Deshipara area of the district, said Major ASM Maidul Islam, chief of Gazipur’s Porabari unit of RAB.
According to the RAB official, the 15-year-old victim was playing cricket with her classmates behind her house on Wednesday morning when Moktar lured her to a nearby forest and raped her in an abandoned house.
Based on a written complaint filed by her mother, a unit of RAB arrested the accused from a rented house after conducting a raid in the evening.
Moktar has confessed to the crime and has been handed over to Joydebpur police for further legal action, said the RAB officer.
