Agitating students of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (Sust) in Sylhet blocked the main entrance of the university on Sunday in protest of the alleged attack by Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) activists on protesters.
The university gate has been blocked since 8am on Sunday, and buses are being prevented from entering or leaving the campus, according to campus sources.
On Saturday, some 30-40 BCL activists and leaders attacked the protesting students at campus, injuring six students.
The injured are Shahriar Abedin, Mainul Islam Rashu, Yasir Sarker, Rupel Chakma, Nafis Hasan and Antik.
Immediately after the incident, the students took out a torch procession around the campus in protest.
Moreover, as the university authorities have refused to meet the students' three-point demand, the agitating students have boycotted classes and exams for an indefinite period.
However, leaders of the BCL’s Sust unit denied any attack ever took place.
Students of Begum Sirajunnesa Chowdhury female dormitory have been protesting since Thursday to have their three-point demand met by the authorities.
Their demands include the removal of Provost Assistant Professor Zafrin Ahmed.
