The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested the driver of the bus that killed two pedestrians at Dhaka’s Gulistan.
Md Rakib Sharif, who was behind the wheels of Meghla Paribahan bus, was arrested from the capital’s Wari late on Saturday, said RAB spokesperson Khandakar Al Moin.
Speaking at a media call on Sunday, the senior RAB official said that the 25-year-old does not have licence to operate heavy vehicles,
On Saturday, the Meghla Paribahan bus veered out of control and hit several pedestrians as it was coming off the Mayor Hanif flyover.
Two people died on the spot while several others were injured.
The deceased have been identified as 26-year-old Sheikh Farid and 32-year-old Badshah Miah.
Six of the injured have been admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
