Fishermen at Patharghata upazila of Barguna district have caught a giant stingray fish weighing around 400kg.
The fish was caught from the Bay of Bengal, adjacent to the eastern side of the Sundarbans, on Monday, reports Bangla Tribune.
On Tuesday morning, the fish was taken to the KB Ghat, a famous fish landing station in Bagerhat, for sale, and was eventually sold to traders Hafiz Sardar and Zakir Sardar for TK52,000.
The duo said they had never seen such a huge stingray fish in the last 30 years.
Later the fish was taken to Khan Jahan Ali Market.
As the traders announced the matter in the area using loudspeakers, hundreds of people gathered at the market to witness it.
The fish was sold at TK350 per kg at the local market.
