A total of three Rohingya children, including two siblings, drowned in a lake at Bhasan Char in Hatiya upazila of Noakhali district on Tuesday.
The deceased were identified as Jamal Hossain, 9, Anisur Rahman Anis, 6, and Mohammad Hafsa, 5.
Rafiqul Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Bhasan Char police station, said the children along with Hafsa’s brother Junayed went to the Chairman Dighi lake in the area on Tuesday morning.

At around 11:30am, three of them drowned in the lake.
Noticing the matter, Junayed went to a nearby cluster and informed locals for help.
Later, they rescued the trio and took them to a local hospital where the on-duty doctors declared them dead.
