Video of an office assistant assaulting the acting principal at Safa Degree College in Mathbaria, Pirojpur has gone viral on social media.
The incident took place at the college premises on Monday.
The office assistant, Farida Yasmin, is the wife of Alam Bepari in Dhanisafa area of Mathbaria.
According to witnesses, acting principal Binoy Krishno Bal asked all teachers, staff and students to visit the college on Monday in order to submit their assignments.
Farida Yasmin paid no heed when he asked her to note down the names of students who handed in their assignments.
When the principal went up to the office assistant's table with the register book in hand, she picked up her sandals and started hitting the principal. He was later rescued by students present in the room.

The acting principal is undergoing treatment at a local hospital. He said that he would take legal action against Farida Yasmin for humiliating him.
UNO of Mathbari Upozila Bashir Ahmed said: “We are shocked by the event. We will cooperate if the aggrieved principal takes legal action.”
District Secondary Education Officer Idris Ali Azizi said: “This incident poses a threat to our education system. Necessary action will be taken on the basis of the complaint.”
Terming it the worst crime, Azim-ul-Haq, general secretary of Mathbaria upazila branch of Bangladesh College Teachers' Association and principal of Mathbaria Mohiuddin Ahmed Women's Degree College, said they would take stern action against the office assistant after discussing the matter with the teacher’s leaders.
