An assistant revenue officer died of a heart attack at the Chittagong Port Jetty on Monday afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Mohammad Rezwanul Haque, 35, of the Gate Division under the Chittagong Customs House. He hailed from Munshiganj.
Customs House Revenue Officer (Admin) Nahid Hossain said Rezwanul Haque suddenly fell seriously ill while on duty at the gate division of the port jetty and was rushed to Islami Bank Hospital in Agrabad area of the city.
For better treatment, he was later taken to Chittagong Maa o Shishu Hospital where the doctors declared him dead. Doctors said Rezwanul had a heart attack.
The body would be sent to Rezwanul's village home in Munshiganj after a Namaz-e-janaza at the custom house, he added.
Rezwanul joined the National Board of Revenue as an assistant revenue officer on December 17, 2017. He joined the Chittagong Custom House on February 1 this year.
