Khulna Division logged 20 new deaths from Covid-19 and 640 new cases in the 24 hours between Tuesday and Wednesday mornings, as the Delta variant of the deadly coronavirus continues to wreak havoc across the country.
According to the divisional health director's office, seven people died in Khulna district, five in Jessore, three in Meherpur, two each in Jhenaidah and Kushtia, and one in Magura.
With the fresh figures, the death toll in the division’s 10 districts climbed to 2,726 and the total number of cases to 101,802.
At the same time, a total of 82,516 people also recovered from Covid-19 across the division, increasing its recovery rate to 81.05%.
The district-wise break up of total Covid-19 patients stands at 25,388 in Khulna; 20,112 in Jessore; 16,294 in Kushtia; 8,311 in Jhenaidah; 6,611 in Bagerhat; 6,415 in Chuadanga; 6,212 in Satkhira; 4,487 in Narail; 4,328 in Meherpur; and 3,644 in Magura.
The district-wise break-up of the fatalities stands at 692 in Khulna, 650 in Kushtia, 408 in Jessore, 235 in Jhenidah, 180 in Chuadanga, 163 in Meherpur, 133 in Bagerhat, 100 in Narail, 86 in Satkhira and 79 in Magura.
Currently, the fatality rate among the total 101,802 Covid-19 patients stands at a little over 2.68% in the division.
The division’s first Covid-19 case was detected in Chuadanga on March 19 last year.
