Barisal Division recorded 23 more Covid-19-related deaths in the 24 hours between Friday and Saturday mornings.
Of them, eight were confirmed Covid-19 patients and the other 15 were showing symptoms, according to health officials. With the eight, the division’s Covid-19 death toll climbed to 536.
At the same time, 195 people tested positive for Covid-19, which is the division’s lowest in a day in two weeks and took the total number of cases to 37,817.
Confirming the latest data, divisional health director Dr Basudeb Kumar Das on Saturday said 20,618 of the total patients also recovered so far.
Between Friday and Saturday mornings, he said, 15 people with Covid-19 symptoms died at Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital’s (SBMCH) isolation war and three Covid-19 patients died in the corona ward.

Five others passed away at different hospitals in other districts of the division, he added.
Of the eight Covid-19 deceased, three each died in Barisal and Bhola and the other two died in Jhalakathi.
Sources at SBMCH said 24 people were admitted to the hospital’s isolation ward and 11 in the corona ward in the past 24 hours till Saturday morning. The hospital is currently treating 277 patients in both wards.
Meanwhile, many patients and their families have alleged that there was an oxygen crisis in the corona ward, a shortage of beds in the Intensive Care Unit and doctors are not available when needed.
