Khulna Division logged 46 new deaths linked to Covid-19 in the 24 hours between Sunday and Monday mornings, according to health officials, taking the death toll to 2,217.
According to the divisional health director's office, 13 people died in the Kushtia district, 11 each in Khulna and Jessore, two each in Narail and Magura, three each in Bagerhat and Meherpur, and one in Jhenaidah.
Director Dr Jasim Uddin Hawladar on Monday said 1,186 fresh Covid-19 cases were also recorded during the same period -- which took the total number of cases to 88,248.
The 10 districts of the division had also seen 45 deaths between Saturday and Sunday mornings.
The division is seeing an upward trend in the single-day numbers of Covid-19 cases and deaths following the Eid holidays -- when thousands of people travelled and left home for Eid shopping amid a relaxed lockdown.
Meanwhile, 62,582 of the total number of patients have already recovered and gone home.
As of Monday morning, 2,130 patients were undergoing treatment at the hospitals in Khulna Division.
In Khulna Division, the first case of Covid-19 was detected in Chuadanga on March 19 last year.
So far, 22,640 Covid-19 cases have been recorded in Khulna district; 17,919 in Jessore; 13,421 in Kushtia; 7,194 in Jhenaidah; 5,770 in Chuadanga; 5,691 in Bagerhat; 5,369 in Satkhira; 3,925 in Narail; 3,498 in Meherpur; and 2,821 in Magura.
