Covid-19: Rajshahi records 17 more deaths

Seventeen more people died from Covid-19 in Rajshahi in the last 24 hours till Monday morning, taking the death toll to 1,250 in the division, the health department sources said.

A total of 908 more people tested positive for Covid-19 in all eight districts in the division on the same day, taking the caseload to 79,203 since the pandemic began, said Dr Habibul Ahsan Talukder, divisional director of Health.

However, the new daily infection figure shows a declining trend compared to the previous day's figure of 1,006.

Among the infected people, 55,855 have, so far, been cured of the lethal virus with 883 new recoveries found on the day.

A total of 11,069 infected patients are now undergoing treatment at different designated hospitals here.

Besides, all the positive cases for Covid-19 have, so far, been brought under necessary treatment while 18,283 were kept in isolation units of different hospitals for institutional supervision. Of them, 12,675 have by now been released.

On the other hand, 562 more people have been sent to home and institutional quarantine afresh while 663 others were released from isolation during the last 24 hours till 8am on Monday.

A total of 98,183 people have, so far, been kept under quarantine since March 10 last year to prevent the community transmission of the deadly coronavirus.

Of them, 88,119 have, by now, been released as they were given clearance certificates after completing their 14-day quarantine.

Meanwhile, the surge of Covid-19 cases has been continuing in all eight districts of the division since the beginning of the second wave making the division a hotspot of the deadly virus.
