A cargo ship carrying construction materials for Padma bridge from Chittagong port sank at Hatiya after colliding with another sunken ship in the area Tuesday.
The cargo ship MV Hang Gang-1 wrecked 10 nautical miles south of Bhasan Char in the Bay of Bengal at Hatiya, said the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA).

The ship was carrying iron pipes for construction of the Padma Bridge.
BIWTA Deputy Director Md Selim confirmed that the cargo ship sank after colliding with another sunken ship. The crew of the ship were rescued by a small fishing boat.
A ship named MV Fultala-1 sank on Saturday. A red buoy was floated to ward off approaching ships, but the MV Hang Gang-1 ignored the danger signal.
