A mobile court on Friday imposed a fine of Tk10,000 on the organisers of a wedding ceremony in Sadar upazila of Thakurgaon for defying the lockdown restrictions.
Acting on a tip-off about Bhagirath Barman and Sri Election organizing the wedding of their son and daughter, respectively, in Dakkhin Batina Baniapara village, the mobile court went to their houses and fined them Tk5,000 each.
The mobile court was led by Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mohammad Abdullah Al Mamun.
Bangladesh has enforced a seven-day countrywide stricter lockdown, with effect from July 1, amid a surge in Covid-19 cases.
As per the government directives, all kinds of public gatherings, including social programs, birthday and picnic parties, political and religious events will remain suspended until further notice.
