Police have arrested two top drug smugglers from a border area in Naikhongchhari of Bandarban.
Sona Mia, 25, and Korimul Mosatafa alias Atuaiya, 22, were arrested from Bhalukhailya village in the upazila in a special drive around 5am on Thursday.
“We have seized 39,000 pieces of contraband yaba tablets from their possessions. They smuggle in yaba from Myanmar,” Officer-in-Charge of Naikhongchhari police Muhammad Alamgir Hossain told Dhaka Tribune.
The price of the yaba tablets would be around Tk1.47 crore, he said, adding that a case was filed against them under the Narcotics Control Act.
