Drug dealer caught with 600 yaba pills in stomach, 600 in pocket

The Detective Branch (DB) of police in Gazipur on Friday night arrested a drug dealer with 1,200 yaba pills, half of which was found in small packets inside his stomach.

Based on information he provided, the law enforcers later arrested three other dealers and seized 400 more pills of the banned drug ssfrom them, confirmed the district’s DB OC Amir Hossain.

He identified the arrestees as Kamal Hossain, 38, Faruk Mia, 35, Tarikul Islam, 25, and Rashedul Alam, 36.

He said all of them were arrested during separate raids, conducted by police after being tipped off, in different areas of Sreepur upazila.

The OC said they carried out the first raid after learning that a group of drug dealers were on the way to Gazipur with a large consignment of yaba pills.

After picking up Kamal Hossain first from the Mulaid area under Telihati union, police first found 600 yaba pills in his pockets. Later, during questioning, he admitted to carrying 600 more pills in 12 small polythene packets -- each carrying 50 pills -- in his stomach.

The pills in packets, which he had eaten in order to conceal and carry, were later recovered and seized by police.

Afterwards, based on information Kamal divulged, the three other drug dealers were arrested. Faruk was carrying 300 pills and the other two 100 pills, said OC Amir.

He said a narcotics case over the arrest and seizure was filed at the police station concerned.
