3 of a family killed in Mymensingh road accident

Three members of a family have been killed after their pickup van collided with a truck in Mymensingh’s Trishal upazila.

The incident took place on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway in Raymoni area of the upazila around 1:30am on Monday.

The deceased are Aman Ullah, 36, his sister Nazma Akhter, 32, and Nazma Akhter's daughter Lalmoni, 7. They were residents of Bagherchar village in Sherpur Sadar upazila.

Confirming the matter, Trishal police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mayeen Uddin said the pickup van with the three members of the family was on its way to Dhaka. After reaching Raymoni area, the van lost its control due to excessive speed and hit the back of a Dhaka-bound truck. 

The three members of the family died on the spot while the driver of the van, Akram Hossain, 50, was severely injured. He was later rescued and sent to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital, the OC added.
