At least four people have been killed and five others injured in three separate road accidents in two districts.
In Rajshahi, two people were killed and four others injured as a truck ran over them in Godagari upazila on Saturday morning.
The deceased are Israil Hossain, 45, a foreman of Northern Electricity Supply Company Ltd (Nesco), and Rony, 25, both residents of Shagarpara in Mohishalbari under Godagari municipality.
Godagari police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Khalilur Rahman said the accident took place at Shaheed Firoz intersection around 10:30am when a Godagari-bound truck carrying an excavator from Anmura ran over the people who were standing beside the road, leaving the duo dead on the spot.
The injured were taken to Godagari Upazila Health Complex, he said.
Police seized the truck from a petrol pump in the area as its driver parked the vehicle there and fled the scene, the OC added.
In Charghat upazila, a cyclist died as a truck ran over him around 9am on his way to Bakra Bazar.
The deceased is Mokhlesur Rahman, 40, a resident of Bakra Uttarpara village in the upazila.
Charghat police station OC Jahangir Alam said they seized the truck and arrested its driver.
In Natore, a schoolteacher was killed while another man injured as a bus ran over them in Judge Court area in the morning.
The deceased is Asit Karmakar, of Hatiandaha in Singra upazila.
The accident occurred around 6am when a Khulna-bound bus from Bogra overturned as its driver lost control over the steering, Sadar police station OC Md Jahangir Alam said.
Two people, including Asit who went for a walk, were injured in the accident, he said.
Asit was rushed to Natore General Hospital from where he was shifted to Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital.
He died at the hospital while undergoing treatment, the OC said, adding that the injured was taken to a local hospital in Natore.
