Police have arrested a man from Fatullah, Narayanganj allegedly for raping a 15-year-old mentally challenged girl of the same area.
Md Russell, 27, son of Abul Hossain of Dholaikhal in Dhaka, used to live in Tushardhara residential area of Fatullah. He was arrested on Tuesday night, soon after the survivor’s father filed a case.
On March 4, Russell entered her house in absence of her parents and wanted to drink water. He then raped her, and also threatened to kill her if she disclosed the matter to anyone. The accused later raped her on several instances until March 25 when she fell ill, according to the case statement.
Her father is a house painter and the mother works at a local homeopathic pharmacy. Every day the parents would go to work and they rely on the neighbors who look after the girl.

On Tuesday, she was taken to Matuail Institute of Child and Mother Health in Dhaka, where the on duty doctors learnt about her pregnancy. The parents came to know about Russell after questioning her and talking to the neighbors.
Investigating Officer of the case SI Krishna Poddar said that the accused had been send to jail through court on Wednesday.
