A Bangladeshi man has been shot and injured reportedly by Khasia people along the Bangladesh-India border in Gowainghat upazila of Sylhet.
The incident took place near Pillar 1264 in Kulumchhara Par village along the border around 4pm on Tuesday.
The injured was identified as Md Ashiq, 28, son of late Abdus Sobhan of Kulumchhara Par village.
According to local sources, Ashiq and three others came under attack when they went near pillar 1264.
Ashiq received gunshot injuries when the Khasias opened fire at the Bangladeshi men.
Informed, family members rescued Ashiq from the spot and rushed him to a hospital in Sylhet.
BGB 48 Battalion Commander Lt Col Ahmed Yusuf Jamil confirmed the incident and said Ashiq, with multiple gunshot wounds to one arm, was currently undergoing treatment at the Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital.
