Bangladeshi man shot dead by BSF along Moulvibazar border

A Bangladeshi man has allegedly been shot dead by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) along the Bangladesh-India border at Juri in Moulvibazar.

The deceased was identified as local cattle trader Bappa Miya, son of Abdur Rauf of the district's Fultala union, confirmed Md Moinuddin, a member of the same union council.

He said that his body was found on the other side of the barbed wire fence in East Batuli area of Fultala union around 4am on Saturday.

“Bappa was allegedly shot dead by BSF on the other side of the border. His body was later dumped at the scene. I have informed the matter to the police and BGB,” said the UP member.

Juri police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Sanjay Chakraborty told media: “It has been alleged that a Bangladeshi man was killed in BSF firing. The BGB will be able to give details in this regard.”

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) is trying to hold a flag meeting with BSF regarding this incident, said Lt Col Siddiqui, commander of the BGB 52 battalion. "Since the incident took place across the border, it is not possible to say anything until the flag meeting with the BSF.”
