Three children of a family have died after a fire broke out in their house in Chakaria upazila of Cox’s Bazar district.
The incident happened in Sabanghata area under Harbang union of the upazila around 11:45pm on Monday.
The deceased are – Jahedul Islam, 12, son of Zaker Hossain, and his two sisters Mim Akhter, 10, and Mitu Moni, 8.
According to locals, the fire may have started from an electrical short circuit.

The family members were asleep when the house caught fire. The fire engulfed the room where the three children were sleeping and no one survived there. Those who were in the other rooms survived.
Fire Service did not go to the scene immediately after the fire broke out, for which the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
Harbang Union Parishad Chairman Miranul Islam confirmed the matter.
Chakaria police station Officer-in-Charge Shaker Mohammad Jubayer said a team of police including Mahtab Uddin, in-charge of Harbang police outpost, was sent to the spot after receiving the news.
