At least 11 buses parked inside a garage, were gutted in a mysterious fire on Thursday noon.
According to the control room of Agrabad Fire Service and Civil Defence, the fire broke out around 1:30pm at the garage of Baghdad Express in the city’s Colonel Hat area.
After being informed, five firefighting vehicles rushed to the spot and doused the fire in an hour.
Authorities are investigating the incident to identify the actual cause of the fire.
Speaking to Dhaka Tribune, Chittagong Fire Service and Civil Defence Deputy Assistant Director (DAD) Newton Das, said: “Nine of the buses were fully gutted. Two others were partially damaged in the fire.”
“We are investigating to find out how the fire originated,” added the fire service official.
According to locals, one of the buses parked at the garage suddenly caught fire, and then the fire spread around rapidly.
