Bangladesh Chhatra Moitri, a left leaning student organization, staged demonstrations in the capital demanding immediate abolition of the Digital Security Act (DSA) on Wednesday.
Some activists of Bangladesh Chhatra Moitri brought out a procession at around 11:30am from Shahbag area. After parading across different roads of the campus, they held a rally at the base of Raju Memorial sculpture.
Addressing the rally, Chhatra Moitri President Kazi Abdul Motaleb Jewel said, “Citizens have the right to criticize the government. It is not an anti-state activity. We see the DSA is only used to suppress freedom of speech and criticism. The government has to abolish this notorious act.”
General Secretary of the organization Atulon Das Alo, Organizing Secretary Aditi Srishti, Central Vice President Jesmin Akter, Literary, Cultural and Sports Secretary Sumaiya Parveen Jahra, were present at the protest rally.
