A suspected cattle smuggler has been killed in reportedly a gunfight with Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in Bangaon border area of Sunamganj Sadar upazila.
The deceased was identified as Md Kamal Hossain, 40, from Islampur village of the same upazila.
The incident occurred around midday on Saturday.

Sunamganj BGB 26 Captain Lt Colonel Mohammad Maksudul Alam said a special patrol team tried to stop the smuggling of 25-30 cows from India, when a group of 30-35 smugglers attacked the team’s Lance Naik Thui Hala Mong Marma.
Md Kamal Hossain was shot after Lance Naik Thui Hala Mong Marma fired in self-defence, he added.
Kamal was taken to Sunamganj 250-bed Sadar Hospital. As his condition deteriorated, he was later shifted to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital where he died in the afternoon, said the BGB official.
