A cattle trader has been robbed and later killed by unidentified miscreants -- who called themselves members of Detective Branch of Police -- in Mithapukur, Rangpur.
The deceased, Badsha Miah, 45, a resident of Dinajpur’s Nababganj-- was returning to his hometown from Lalmonirhat with his cattles in a three wheeler on Wednesday.
On their way, around 11pm around Joy Anowar area, a few unknown miscreants in a private car stopped the cattle trader, and searched the vehicle, calling themselves members of DB police, said the two people who were with the deceased Badsha on the three wheeler.
At one point, they took away Badsha’s money, Tk3,50,000 and rode their car.
“When Badsha stood in front of their car to stop them, they ran over and killed him on the spot and fled the scene,” said Jakir Hossain, officer-in-charge of Mithapukur police station.
“We are conducting drives to arrest the perpetrators,” added the OC.
