Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University Prof Mirza named among world's top scientists

Dr Mirza Hasanuzzaman, a professor of agriculture at Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University (SAU), has been listed among the top 2% scientists in the world.

The listing is based on a research citation report published by researchers at Stanford University in the US.

At least 159, 683 scientists from different branches of science have been enlisted in the report. Of them, 26 are from Bangladesh.

Dr Mirza was listed in the “Plant Biology and Botany” category. He has published 148 articles in various international journals. He was cited more than 6,000 times, according to the Scopus database.

The professor was awarded Australia's most prestigious Endeavor Research Fellowship in 2017 for postdoctoral research. He received the Japanese Society for Promotion of Science (JSPS) Fellowship in 2015 and the Monbukagakusho Scholarship in 2009. 

He received the Young Scientist Award from The World Academy of Sciences in 2014 for his outstanding contribution to biology.
