A mother who had surrendered with her 7-month-old son in her arms in court, was let out on bail after 15 days in jail.
The mother, Shahnaz Akhter, was also remanded for two days while holding her child on the order of the investigating officer in the case.
Shahnaz Akhter, accused in a case relating to her brother-in-law's wife committing suicide, surrendered to Comilla Court on October 19.
Later, the judge sent Shahnaz to jail along with her child.
After 15 days in jail the mother and her child were produced in court on Wednesday.
Some lawyers from Dhaka, including Supreme Court lawyer Advocate Tajul Islam, went to Comilla Court to hear the case. While conducting the case, Comilla District and Sessions Judge Mohammad Atab Ullah noticed the crying child inside the witness box.

He then accepted Shahnaz’s bail plea and released them on bail.
The defendant's lawyer in the case, Advocate Akhtar Hamid Khan Kabir, confirmed the matter and said: “On September 1, 2018, housewife Ayesha Akhter Rima committed suicide by hanging herself in Manoharpur area of Comilla city.
“Ayesha's father filed a murder case against her husband Nasir Uddin, brother-in-law Masum and his wife Shahnaz Begum. Shahnaz Begum surrendered to the court on October 19 along with her baby.”
Supreme Court lawyer Tajul Islam said Shahnaz Begum had been jailed for 15 days with her son who had been suffering from chicken pox.
She was even remanded for two days while holding her baby in her lap. The investigation officer and others concerned should not have done that.
He added: “I thought they needed help with the bail process amid this coronavirus pandemic. The court heard our petition and granted bail to the child's mother.”
