At least six people including a teenage boy were arrested in connection with two separate incidents of rapes in Fatullah of Narayanganj Sadar upazila and Siddhirganj upazila.
In Fatullah, police on Saturday arrested a 14-year-old teenage boy for reportedly raping a six-year-old madrasa girl.
Previously on Friday, the girl's mother filed a case at Fatullah Model police station, a day after the alleged rape took place, confirmed the police station's Officer-in-Charge (OC) Aslam Hossain.
According to police and the case details, the teenager was a neighbour of the six-year old girl. On Thursday he took her to a deserted place near their house and raped her. After the girl informed her parents of the matter, the girl's family notified police.
OC Aslam said the girl has been sent to Narayanganj General Hospital for a medical test.
In Siddhirganj, police on Thursday arrested five people over the rape of a 16-year-old teenager who is now in the fifth month of her pregnancy.
On the same day the girl's mother filed a case against the five in connection with the matter at Siddhirganj police station, confirmed the police station’s OC Kamrul Faruk.
The arrested were: Abdul Aziz Hawlader alias Mintu Hawlader, 55, his wife Bilkis Hawlader, Ujjal Rana, 20, Tajel Islam, 16, and Md Jalal.
On April 24, one of the accused, Bilkis called the rape survivor in her room for a chat as they were neighbours. Afterwards, she called Tajel and Rana in the room who raped her in turns, according to the case details.
Bilkis fed the girl medicines as she fell sick after the incident. Bilkis along with her husband threatened the girl to ensure that the incident was suppressed.
Recently when the girl fell sick, she was taken to a hospital, where her family got to know that she was pregnant, adds the case dockets.
Siddhirganj OC Kamrul Faruk said the five confessed to their crimes during a preliminary interrogation.
