JUST student suspended for hurting Hindu sentiment

The authorities of Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST) suspended a student as he allegedly posted negative remarks about the Gods and Goddesses of the Hindu religion.

The suspension of the accused, Shakil Hawladar, a second year student of the maths department, was decided in a meeting chaired by JUST Vice-Chancellor Dr Anwar Hossain on Saturday.

Abdur Rashid, the public relations officer of JUST confirmed the matter to the Dhaka Tribune.

A show cause notice was also served to Shakil seeking explanation of why he should not be expelled.

University authorities also formed a five-member probe body to investigate the matter.
