The Brac Bank Ltd has filed a petition with the High Court, seeking a stay on its order asking the bank to provide Tk15 lakh as compensation to Jahalam.
Anisul Hasan, a lawyer of Brac Bank who filed the petition on Monday, said it would likely be placed before the chamber judge.
Jahalam languished in jail for three years instead of the real accused in a case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) for misappropriating Sonali Bank money.

On September 30 this year, the High Court asked Brac Bank to give Tk15 lakh to Jahalam as compensation within a month.
Two officials of the bank were blamed for the incident.
The court also asked the ACC to be vigilant so that such mistakes do not happen in the future as people have a lot of expectations from the ACC, said the ACC lawyer.
On February 12, the court kept the matter as a case awaiting verdict (CAV), completing hearing on the ruling, asking the government to explain why directives should not be given to provide compensation to Jahalam in the loan default case filed by ACC.

A native of Tangail, Jahalam spent three years in jail as an accused in 33 cases, instead of the real accused Abu Salek, involving embezzlement of Tk18 crore from Sonali Bank.
The High Court took cognizance of the matter following a newspaper report that an innocent man was suffering. It passed a suo moto order following the newspaper report.
Jahalam was released on bail granted by the apex court on February 3 this year.
