A Dhaka court has sent two accused to jail in a case filed for gang-raping a woman in Savar.

The accused are Raju Ali, 35, and Riaz Ali, 20, both residents of Chapainawabganj Sadar upazila.

The accused were produced before the Dhaka Chief Judicial Magistrate Court on Saturday afternoon in the case and the court passed the order, said Savar Model police station Inspector (Investigation) Saiful Islam.

Earlier, the accused were arrested on Friday afternoon.

The woman, a housemaid by profession, got acquainted with Raju who used to invite her to visit his house, the police official said.

On Friday, the woman went to his house where Raju and Riaz made an indecent proposal.

As she rejected, they confined her in a room and violated her in turns.

When the rape survivor tried to call for help, Raju tried to slit her throat with a sharp blade.

Sensing the matter, locals rushed in and rescued the woman. They also caught the two men and informed police, Inspector Saiful said.

The woman filed a case at the police station on Friday night, he added.
