Rapid Action Battalion detained eleven members of a "juvenile gang" from Narayanganj’s Fatullah area on Friday for allegedly abducting a teenage boy.
RAB-11 Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police Md Suminur Rahman confirmed the matter on Saturday.
The arrested were identified as Rasel Miah, 18, Jalal, 18, Aminul Islam, 23, Shafiqul Islam Jony, 18, Jakir Hossain, 18, Anwar 18, Jewel Rana, 22, Abu Nayem, 18, Ferdous Islam, 18, Abdullah Shuvo, 24 and Saiful Islam Shanto, 18.
RAB official Suminur Rahman said the gang members abducted a boy on Thursday night and took him to a deserted place at Chanmari Mawra Potti area under Fatullah Model police station. They took away Tk3000 from the boy.
Later the gang members called the boy’s mother over the phone and demanded Tk40, 000 from her as ransom. The victim’s mother then informed RAB-11 about the matter, senior ASP Suminur said.
On a tip off, a special team of RAB-11 conducted a raid at the Chanmari Mawra Potti area under Fatullah on Friday night, rescued the boy and detained 11 members of the juvenile gang from the scene, he said.
A case will be filed in this regard, added the RAB official.
