Police has arrested a man for attempting to rape a four-year-old girl in Narayanganj.
incident occurred in the district's Bhulta union under Rupganj upazila on September 29.
The father of the rape survivor filed a case on Tuesday – seven days after the incident – with the Rupganj police station upon receiving help and supervision from the Sonargaon Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Shah Nusrat Jahan.
"The accused, Sunny Dewan, 24, has been arrested," confirmed Rupganj police station OC Mahmudul Hasan.
According to the police and case document, the 4-year-old was playing next to her house on September 29.
At one point, the accused Sunny, lured her with a chocolate into his house.
When the accused attempted to rape the child, the four-year-old started to cry and screaming. Sunny, fear of getting caught, let the child go.
Locals claimed that, after the incident, a union parishad member, an upazila unit Jubo League leader along with others tried to cover up the incident by offering the child's family Tk200,000.
