Police early Saturday arrested an union unit leader of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) for sexually harassing a woman in Kaliganj upazila of Satkhira.
The arrestee was identified as Sohel Gazi, 20, son of Imadul Islam and general secretary of Varashimla union unit Chhatra League, said Kaliganj police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Delowar Husen.
OC Husen said that locals caught Sohel redhanded from the woman's house while he was sexually harassing her early Saturday. Being informed police arrested Sohel.
The girl's father filed a case under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act with Kaliganj police station in connection with the rape.
Kaliganj upazila Chhatra League President Kazi Nur Ahmed Rony said actions will be taken against Sohel as per the rules of the party.
