A police officer died after he was hit by a covered van at Sitakunda area of Dhaka-Chittagong Highway in Chittagong on Sunday.
The accident took place around 7am at AR Jute Milla area under Banshbaria Union of Sitakunda upazila.
The deceased identified as Mahbubur Rahman, 42, was working as a Sub-Inspector of Baroawlia Highway Police Station.
Alamgir Hossain, Officer-in-Charge of Baroawlia Highway Police Station said that
“The police official was preparing to take a covered van to the police station following an accident, when another covered van hit him,” said the OC.
ASI Alauddin Talukder of Chittagong Medical College Hospital police outpost said that the on-duty doctor pronounced the policeman dead upon arrival at 9am.
The body of the police officer was sent to the CMCH morgue for autopsy.
