Dalits want quotas to be fairly implemented

People of the Dalit community on Saturday urged the government to ensure implementation of the existing quota for them in education and employment. They also called for arranging vocation training to encourage the jobless Dalits. The minority community people made the calls in a human chain formed to press home their eight-point-demand on Ashwini  Kumar Town Hall premises in  Barisal city. The Barisal chapter of Bangladesh Dalit O Bonchito Odhikar Andolan, a platform of the community, organised the programme in association with civil society platform Nagorik Uddyog. Speakers said students from the community are being deprived of their quota in public colleges, affecting the higher education of the neglected group.  Due to the situation, many Dalit students are being forced to stop studying.
