Dr Lutfor Rahman, known as the "poor man's doctor" in Manikganj Sadar upazila, tested positive for Covid-19 on Thursday night.
Being the Upazila Health and Family Planning officer (UHFPO) in Manikganj Sadar upazila, Dr Lutfor worked on the frontlines in the battle against Covid-19 in his region.
Sources said Dr Lutfor led some of the teams collecting samples door to door from low income people. He is the Secretary of the Coronavirus Prevention Committee of his upazila.
Lutfor is currently receiving treatment at home. Manikganj Civil Surgeon, Dr Anwarul Amin, said he hopes Dr Lutfor will be able to continue his office duties with audio or video calls.
