Power supply in Mymensingh division has once again snapped due to yet another fire accident at the national grid substation in Kewatkhali.
The second fire in three days damaged the circuit breaker at the power grid around 10:45am Thursday.
Confirming the matter, Rafiqul Islam, chief engineer, Power Development Board in Mymensingh, said: “As soon as the workers activated the circuit breaker at the power grid this morning it caught on fire. About 100 workers present at that time managed to douse the fire but the circuit breaker was damaged. As a result, the power supply in Mymensingh division has been disrupted.”
The damaged circuit breaker is being replaced but the official could not provide an estimated time by when the power supply would be restored.
Earlier on Tuesday, a transformer at the same power grid substation was damaged in a fire snapping power supply in four districts of the division.
