3 new JMB men detained with pistol, 1kg gunpowder in Bogra

Police's Detective Branch (DB) have detained three members, including an IT expert, of the new faction of banned militant outfit Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (New JMB) in Bogra’s Adamdighi upazila. The detainees are Habibur Rahman Rasel, 34, Abdul Aziz Mamun, 28, and IT expert Abdullahel Kafir alias Farhan, 20. A 7.65 calibre pistol, five rounds of bullets, a magazine, a knife and about a kilogram of gunpowder were seized from them, Additional Superintendent of Bogra Sadar Circle Police (media) Sanatan Chakrabarty told the Dhaka Tribune. Sanatan said a DB team stopped a motorcycle near Adamdighi’s Murailbazar area on Bogra-Naogaon Highway around 10pm on Thursday night acting on a tip-off. "We arrested the riders heading to Bogra to take part in a militant attack,” he added. The trio has been accused in an anti-terrorism case.
