A seven-year-old child has reportedly been raped by her teenager neighbour in Chaugachha upazila, Jessore.
Police arrested the 15-year-old-- who is an associate in a welding shop in the area-- from his shop after a case was lodged against him on Monday afternoon, confirmed Rifat Khan Sajib, officer-in-charge of Chaugachha police station.
The child was playing beside her house on Sunday evening when the boy lured her into a jute field and raped her, the case statement says.
However, the on-duty doctor of Chaugachha Upazila Health Complex pointed out that although it is evident that she was sexually assaulted, they can only confirm the rape after conducting further check-ups of the child.
Confirming the incident, Chaugachha Police OC Rifat said: “We arrested the teenager boy and he has confessed to his crime in the primary investigation.”
He also said the court will record the testimony of the child on Tuesday.
