Police on Tuesday recovered a missing man’s body from inside his brother’s house in Debidwar upazila of Comilla.
The deceased Md Sohel, 32, was allegedly murdered by his brother Ibrahim following a family squabble, according to local and police sources.
Locals say, when Ibrahim and Sohel got into a fight on August 30, Ibrahim and his wife Ruzina severely beat Sohel, causing him to die on the spot.
In a bid to conceal the incident, Ibrahim buried Sohel inside his mud house. After a few days, when other family members came asking for Sohel’s whereabouts, Ibrahim dismissed them by saying Sohel was admitted to a rehab centre. In the face of further queries, Ibrahim fled from his home.
Later, locals investigating the incident confronted Ibrahim’s wife Ruzina and learned of the whole story.
Informed, police arrived at the scene and recovered Sohel’s body and sent it to the Comilla Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
Debidwar police station Inspector Mezbah Uddin said: “We have recovered the body of one Sohel, who went missing over a week ago. Sohel’s brother Ibrahim, who we suspect is the murderer, is currently on the run. So, we have detained Ibrahim’s wife for interrogation.”
